Luna² National Lesbian Arts Exhibition

Thistle Hall Gallery, Wellington, 9 - 20 March, 2011

Luna² te marama, te marama, te marama is the first National Lesbian Arts Exhibition to be held in Aotearoa/NZ. Presented in conjunction with the 2nd Asia Pacific Out Games Luna² opened at Thistle Hall Gallery for two weeks including the entire duration of the Outgames. The Luna² collection offered a rare glimpse into the everyday lives of Lesbian women and what it is that we hold dear. From the trials and tribulation to the greatest of love, fate and fortunes: all is woven, knitted and painted, sculpted, fashioned, played and written, spoken and sung together, here in a public art gallery for the very first time.

In all we showcased more than 30 artists, mainly visual with a sprinkling of authors and performers adding their flair to the colourful mix. Including international guest author Susan Hawthorne

Luna² promised to be a fascinating and unique collection of lesbian art. We invited the wider community to come and see the show, to come and enjoy our art and to perhaps see through our difference, our similarities.
