A great lineup of performing artists are coming to Luna² - for Opening Night as well as for special events - including 10dd, Margaret Tolland, Val Little, 'Anji Kreft and No Fella Accapella'. Luna2 Ticket Holders at the pre-opening preview will be treated to a very special one night comeback from our very own Gene Pitney!! Gene will perform an old favourite, guaranteed to weaken many at the knee. With ecletic drag king Jac Lynch also attending the opening event, who knows who will turn up - crusty Cop, camp Cardinal or big tooth BeeGee? Maybe a persona never seen before dragged up and out to carouse with the crowd. Jac was a founding member of the The Drag Kings and performed with the Wellington troupe for nine years. Special Guest performance from 10DD at the Grand Opening10dd are an all women acapella group dedicated to versioning 10cc songs. 10cc were a 70s UK band of gifted songwriters with a knack for puns, a slightly warped sense of humor and instrumentalists who would play almost any popular or offbeat musical stylings. Four decades later we have New Zealand's own 10dd breathing life into these admired and often quirky refrains with an all women's a cappella spin. From "I'm Not in Love" and "Art for Art's Sake" through to "Good Morning Judge" and "Dreadlock Holiday" these ladies really know how to transport you through the emotional roller-coaster of love, jailhouse rioting and Jamaican relaxation with musical finesse and dexterity in a top class tribute to the original band, wowing audiences along the way. Val LittleI began performing in 2001 as a founding member of Wellington's 'DragKings' Troupe. I have performed locally, nationally and on the international stage. Locally I've performed at gay, lesbian, queer and mainstream events such as Out in the Square (formerly the Gay and Lesbian Fair); various festivals - Fringe, International Comedy and Pride and at other community and private events - Women's Refuge Fundraisers, birthday parties and weddings to name a few. In 2008, I was privileged to perform at the International Drag King Extravaganza in Ohio, USA with a fellow drag performer from Wellington. Going by the stage name of Kamp David, I have created and performed a number of different characters - some parodying well-known artists and some created for a specific song. Among, the 'international stars' are Emma Nem, John Trevolting and Tinna Tuna. I love performing in drag because it allows for a playful yet powerful way to challenge gender identity, stereotypes and roles. Until you have worn a full moustache, men's clothing and adopted a 'male way of being' in a performance setting can you begin to understand how differently men and women are perceived in the world and even how you feel about your own gender. If you'd like me to perform at your event, give me a call on 021 846 399 and let's chat. |

Rachael MorganI am a singer / songwriter and violinist. I moved back to Aotearoa from South Australia in 2010, after 24 years away. I produced my first CD 'Footsteps' shortly before arriving back in this country. How would I describe my music? My songs are really in the folk music genre. I like to write about the things in life that touch me....this beautiful planet, being a lesbian, love, the goddess. Website www.rachelmorgan.net |
